Prerequisites

SmartMasterTM is a server based system. Users install and run user interface components on workstation machines. This page summarizes minimum hardware and software requirements needed for SmartMasterTM to function.

 

Introduction

SmartMasterTM is a server based system, running services on a server. In normal circumstances, users install and run user interface components on workstation machines on their local area network, or the internet.

In limited cases where systems have very small size and limited functionality, both server and client components can run on one and the same workstation computer.

Server Computer Minimum Specification Guidelines

  • Dell PowerEdge T320 or Equivalent
  • At least 8GB of RAM
  • 2.4 GHz quad core processor with 8MB Cache
  • DVD RW Drive
  • 500GB fast hard drive (for software components)
  • 1TB fast second hard drive (for database)
  • 1TB external hard drive (for backups)
  • Keyboard, optical mouse
  • Two serial ports
  • Two Ethernet ports

Workstation Computer Minimum Specification

  • Any modern IBM PC compatible computer running Windows 7 or later
  • High definition (preferably digital) graphics card
  • (At least one) high definition, 24" flat panel screen
  • Sound card
  • Sound (speaker) system (for alarms)
  • Ethernet port

Software Components Running on Server Computer

  • Microsoft Windows  Server 2019 or later
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 or later
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2019 or later
  • BTE SmartMasterTM Server components

Software components running on Workstation Computer(s)

  • Microsoft Windows 10 (any flavor) or later
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 or later
  • BTE SmartMasterTM Client components (user interface, report programs, data viewers, etc.)

Products

  • SmartMaster is a SCADA platform which runs on a private server or in the cloud.
  • It provides services like communications, event logging, data viewing and analysis.
  • SmartMaster is based on Microsoft's SQL 2019 Server which provides industrial strength database services.
